Album Art Reimagined

This project is a reimagined album cover inspired by MF DOOM’s MM…FOOD. The goal was to rebuild the visual identity while keeping the energy, humor, and personality of the original concept. The new artwork focuses on bold shapes, character-driven illustration, and a gritty tone that fits the album’s style.
Set The Mood
The mood pulls from DOOM’s previous album art, tons of food, and DOOM’s signature masked persona. The direction mixes playful energy with darker themes to reflect the album’s balance of humor and grit. The tone stays bold and expressive to match the personality of the music.
Sketch Phase
The early sketches explored how to reinterpret the original cover while giving it a fresh structure. Concepts tested different poses, props, and angles to highlight DOOM’s character. These sketches helped narrow the visual direction toward a strong, centered composition that carried the most attitude.
First Drafts
The early drafts focused on turning the sketch into a clear illustration. I tested line weight, mask details, and the exaggeration of the food elements to match the MM..FOOD tone. The first versions stayed in black and white to check balance before moving into color.
The color drafts pushed contrast, explored the DOOM lettering, and tested palettes that kept the illustration playful while still gritty. These drafts helped shape the final direction and showed which details needed more clarity and personality.
Final Design
The final artwork sharpens the line work, refines the shapes, and pushes the colors for a bold but authentic Doom-inspired look. The milkshake and pizza details were cleaned for clarity, and small highlights were added to bring depth to the mask and food elements. A light noise texture finishes the piece and gives it a gritty printed feel.
